Elektrapod is the vibrant creation of guitarist/keyboardist “Brother Gabe” Johnson. Formed with a vision of fusing Funk, Soul, Riff Rock & Hip Hop with dance music and deeply improvisational sensibilities, Elektrapod pairs striking, hook-driven original songs with a live band built to take the music somewhere different every night.

Over the years, Elektrapod has featured an ever-evolving cast of talented musicians and singers, and its current lineup is one of its strongest yet. Joining Gabe are his talented daughter Scarlet Rae on vocals, keyboard phenom Malaika Friedman, veteran bassist Mark Karwan and powerhouse drummer Kyle Pickard, all three of whom Gabe also plays with in Malaika Friedman Group. Together, they bring tremendous chops, taste, creativity and personality to a sound that is as soulful as it is adventurous.

Much of Elektrapod’s repertoire is built around the original music of Brother Gabe, whose most recent release, Brother Gabe - FireOnyx, was co-produced by Brother Gabe and Steve “Swatkins” Watkins (Allen Stone Band, Scary Pockets). Deeply funky and soulful, FireOnyx is a musical journey through the cathartic, transformational and “Fironic” qualities of Love, Life & Music, and many of its songs have become central to Elektrapod’s live repertoire.

Alongside their original music and a carefully chosen collection of Funk & Soul classics, Elektrapod has fully embraced live improvisation as a defining part of the band’s identity. Songs stretch, grooves deepen, unexpected turns emerge, and the musicians follow the moment wherever it wants to go. That commitment to spontaneity, chemistry and musical conversation has helped Elektrapod develop a reputation for live performances filled with energy, magic and synergy.
